Noch
The Noch company was founded in 1911 by Oswald Noch in Germany, later joined by his son Erich. It started as a plumbing company, but in 1936, the company began selling wooden painted models of buildings. In 1940, Erich Noch was drafted into the army, and the company's operations were suspended until the end of the war in 1945. To restart the company, he began producing complete model railways with sets for wealthy customers. Four years later, the first catalog was published, which included not only standard models of buildings, trains, and tracks, but also tunnels and landscape accessories. The company nearly collapsed in 1953 under pressure from the socialist government, but survived thanks to loans from private individuals. In later years, the first of many technological innovations took place. Noch began using modern vacuum heat forming technology in the production of tunnels and also launched the production of electrostatically coated grass carpets. In 1966, Peter Noch, Erich's son, created detailed trees from injection-molded plastic, which are much more realistic. The company also expanded its factory to increase production. In 1978, they discontinued production of their first product, building models. These were replaced by the development of detailed stone walls and tunnels made of innovative hard foam. Thanks to the new material, the company began trading in sales displays. In 1984, Noch began using a new and simpler system for the production of railway models, called TERRA-FORM. This involves modeling using skewers and cardboard, making the landscape look more realistic. In 1970, Erich's son Peter finally joined the Noch company. They ran the company together until Erich's death in 1989. In 1997, the fourth generation came on the scene, with Dr. Rainer Noch starting to produce figurines. In 2005, Noch introduced the revolutionary Gras-Master® electrostatic grass applicator, which makes it easy to transform a model landscape into a grassy area. Two years later, it also began producing detailed and accurate accessories using Laser-Cut laser technology. In 2010, 30 years after discontinuing model buildings, the company restarted production, and thanks to laser technology, the models are of higher quality than ever before. A year later, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary! In 2013, they opened a store called Noch Model World. Here, people can view, try out, and purchase all of their products. 2015 was a turning point, as Noch built a new warehouse with an automatic picking system at its headquarters. This ensures the efficiency of storage and shipping of products. In 2017, they celebrated the 20th anniversary of their model figures, during which time they have become a leading manufacturer. They offer more than 250 sets in H0, TT, N, and Z scales. Following this anniversary, Noch began producing innovative 3D-printed models a year later. Combined with laser cutting technology and hand painting, these products are truly precise. In 2020, during the pandemic, they organized their first online toy fair, which was a real hit! During its more than 100-year history, Noch has made many technical innovations, and their products have revolutionized the production of railway landscape models. These include, in particular, realistic grass and trees, and technology for producing model buildings and figures. As their logo says, Noch models are like the real thing.
