ČD Cargo began modernizing its locomotive fleet in 2016 and opted for the Vectron type. So far, 13 multi-system locomotives are listed in the Czech Republic as the 383 series and are mainly used in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia. The locomotives are also in use in Austria, Poland, Hungary, and Romania.
