It has been manufactured since 1974 by the German company Geobra Brandstätter GmbH &amp; Co. KG. These are plastic figures 7.5 cm tall (children 5.3 cm), with movable heads (movement only 180 degrees) and removable hair, movable arms (including movable wrists since 1982), the ability to sit down, and various accessories including vehicles, houses, animals, and plants. The original four Playmobil theme worlds (construction workers, knights, Indians, and cowboys) were soon expanded with new ideas. Today, there are dozens of these worlds (e.g., pirates, circus, airport, farm, etc.), and even the figure itself has undergone significant development in several phases and continues to change in detail to this day.</p>
