Rainbow Designs was founded in 1971 by young entrepreneur Mike Mutters. At that time, there was no brand with the word "rainbow" in its name, so he chose this name. In the late 1970s, they produced badges for Buckingham Palace and Queen Elizabeth II under license. Between 1980 and 2010, they continued to collaborate on Paddington Bear, various Beatrix Potter characters, Elmer, and other characters from Sesame Street. Their portfolio also includes Peppa Pig, Peter Rabbit, and other well-known characters.
