From 1882 to 1910, approximately 1,550 T3 class tank locomotives of various designs were delivered to the Prussian State Railways (K.P.E.V.) and other state railways. The M III-4p version of the locomotive had a friction load of 36 t as type Cn2 and could reach a maximum speed of 40 km/h with an output of 300 hpi. About 70 locomotives remained with the Deutsche Bundesbahn. The last locomotives were taken out of service around 1961.
