Vilac Rocking Horse Diamant

Vilac is proud to work closely with ADEME, a French government agency involved in a wide range of activities aimed at protecting the environment. The agency's history dates back to the 1970s, to the period of the oil crisis. It actively cooperates with politicians, public organizations, the private sector, and citizens. It is behind recommendations, proposals for technical, methodological and financial procedures, studies and awareness campaigns. Thanks to its many years of activity, ADEME is recognized as a trusted third party providing guarantees for the pursuit of a sustainable future. By purchasing a product from a manufacturer that cooperates with this agency, customers can demonstrate their commitment to preserving the environment through strictly assessed procedures and key innovations throughout the manufacturing process.

For more than 100 years, VILAC has been making children's dreams come true. As one of the leading French manufacturers of wooden toys, the French brand VILAC is based in the heart of the Jura Mountains, surrounded by mountains, lakes and forests. Since 1911, VILAC has been producing wooden toys while combining traditional craftsmanship with modern trends, an adaptive business approach and a strong commitment to sustainability. The toys are made from wood sourced from forests that respect biodiversity. VILAC favours short supply chains, uses local wood species and ensures that a new tree is planted for every tree harvested.

VILAC follows in the footsteps of the traditional wood-turning workshops that once made the Jura region famous. In its workshop, skilled craftsmen lovingly turn, smooth, sand, lacquer and decorate the wood by hand. Beech, hornbeam, alder and boxwood from nearby French forests guarantee the uniqueness and quality of every product. The knowledge and passion of these artisans have been passed down through generations. In many ways, very little has changed over the past 110 years—the familiar movements, the sound of the machines, the carving and lacquering of wood, and even the scent of fresh beech wood shavings still fill the workshop today. When certain toys cannot be produced in France due to the lack of specialised expertise, VILAC manufactures them abroad while applying the same strict quality standards. The company also strives to eliminate plastic components wherever possible, using them only when necessary for children's safety. The same principle applies to its product packaging. VILAC maintains high standards of quality and safety for all its toys, whether manufactured in France or abroad.

VILAC collaborates with talented illustrators, artists and designers to create wooden toys with distinctive designs and decorative details that bring authenticity and charm not only to children's rooms but also to modern interiors. These artists adapt their unique visual styles to traditional wooden toys: pop art with Keith Haring, poetic illustrations by Michelle Carlsund, retro designs by Ingela P. Arrhenius, the detail-oriented style of Suzy Ultman, and many others. Every generation can find something to admire in their creations. The company continues to grow through new collaborations, including partnerships with the Musée d'Orsay, the Réunion des Musées Nationaux (RMN), the Élysée Palace—the official residence of the Presidents of the French Republic—and the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art from the Czech Republic. VILAC wooden toys are unique, timeless and always stylish, delighting generations of children and adults alike. Through joyful illustrations, original designs and fresh interpretations of classic toys, VILAC helps inspire children's imagination. In 2011, the company was awarded the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant ("Living Heritage Company") label, a unique French government distinction recognising excellence in traditional craftsmanship for its Made in France product range. For more than a century, VILAC has been connecting children with toys they love and cherish. And why do children love them so much? That remains VILAC's little secret.
