RE-WOOD® is an innovative material developed as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic. The company has been developing it for more than 15 years. The material combines the advantages of modern plastics with a high proportion of recycled wood, creating a strong, safe, durable and recyclable material suitable for everyday use. Thanks to its low weight, it is easy to hold even in children's hands, and many products can be safely washed in the dishwasher.
RE-WOOD® is a PEFC-certified material composed of 70–80% recycled wood scraps and sawdust from German wood-processing plants, 15–25% recycled plastic binder, and approximately 5% colour pigments and other additives manufactured in Germany. All raw materials used comply with the requirements of the REACH Regulation, and all products undergo safety testing.
All products made from RE-WOOD® are manufactured at the company’s plant in Bensheim, Germany, using 100% electricity from renewable sources, with approximately one quarter of the energy coming from the company’s own photovoltaic system. The company places great emphasis on short supply chains – the recycled wood comes from Baden-Württemberg, and most of the other materials and packaging are sourced from regional or German suppliers. Production takes place in accordance with German labour regulations and is audited according to the SEDEX SMETA 2-Pillar standard.
The company’s goal is to make its products last as long as possible. Once a product has reached the end of its life, the RE-WOOD® material can be recycled again and returned to the production process, keeping it part of the circular economy. The company therefore supports the return of used products, from which new ones are then created.
Because RE-WOOD® contains a high proportion of natural wood, new products may briefly smell like wood after unpacking. This natural scent is created during production when heat and pressure are applied to the wood fibres; it is completely harmless and disappears on its own after a short time. The company deliberately does not use any artificial fragrances.

RE-Plastic® is an innovative material made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic waste. It combines the proven properties of plastic with the principles of the circular economy and offers the same high quality as plastic made from virgin raw materials — it is strong, safe, durable and can be recycled again. This keeps valuable raw materials in circulation and their use efficient and responsible in the long term.
All plastic parts of the products are made from RE-Plastic®. White and transparent parts contain 100% recycled polystyrene, while coloured parts contain approximately 97–99% recycled polystyrene plus 1–3% colour pigments. The coloured parts contain approximately 99.5% recycled material and 0.5% pigments. The pigments and additives used are manufactured in Germany, and all materials comply with the requirements of the European Toy Safety Directive EN 71-3 and the REACH Regulation.
All RE-Plastic® products are manufactured at the company’s plant in Bensheim, Germany. Production uses only electricity from renewable sources, about a quarter of which comes from the company’s own photovoltaic system. Part of the recycled granulate is supplied by regional suppliers, and the same principles apply to packaging materials as well — the cardboard packaging comes from a local manufacturer, contains 70–80% recycled paper from German waste collection, and is fully recyclable. Production takes place in accordance with German labour regulations and is audited according to the SEDEX SMETA 2-Pillar standard.
For the company, RE-Plastic® means responsible resource management and proof that the most valuable raw material is often the one that already exists. Thanks to repeated recycling, the material stays in circulation for as long as possible and contributes to more sustainable production.

The PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certificate guarantees that the wood from which the product was made comes from forests managed in a careful and sustainable manner and that the highest environmental, social, and ethical standards are observed during harvesting. PEFC criteria are regularly reviewed through a process of global consultation with research organizations, governments, the public, businesses, and employers, taking into account new scientific knowledge and social changes. The PEFC label on a product means that by purchasing it, you are helping to protect forests and supporting sustainable and responsible management, which will enable forests to be preserved for future generations.

In 1976, Jürgen Wissner founded a company in Bensheim, Germany, to manufacture mathematical aids for schools. The motto of this family-owned company, which focuses on future generations rather than quarterly financial statements, is "smart products for bright minds." In 1982, they added educational aids for children to their portfolio. The company continued to develop, manufacturing products based on the principle of active learning through play. Wissner gradually switched from ordinary plastic to recycled plastic, and later, in 2012, took another step towards greener production by replacing plastic materials with 100% recycled wood waste. More than 90% of its products are made from these recycled materials. Wissner has also expanded its product range to include linguistic educational toys, teaching aids for traffic education and meteorology, and educational games focusing on mathematics. Since 2015, it has been manufacturing most of its products from recycled wood. In 2018, further major changes took place, from a redesign of the company, setting new goals and values regarding production and materials used, to the production of completely new types of educational toys. The recycled wood from which Wissner manufactures its products obtained PEFC certification in 2023. This means that it comes from forests that are managed in a careful and sustainable manner. The recycled material is free of harmful substances, and the wood used, especially sawdust, comes from Germany. The company tries to source as many of the materials it uses as possible from EU countries. The products are manufactured in Bensheim, Germany, and southern Hesse. Wissner not only produces useful teaching aids, but also educational games that make learning fun, engage all of children's senses, and support their individual talents. Wissner products enable multidimensional learning according to Pestalozzi and can be combined with each other. Thanks to state-of-the-art production facilities with heat recovery and the use of solar energy, they achieve almost CO₂ neutral production.
