The European family business Bajo has been making wooden toys since 1993. It was founded in the foothill village of Kamionna in Poland. It is an innovative company that seeks inspiration in the world of children, the pace of modern life, and virtual reality, while also keeping an eye on technological advances, excessive consumption, environmental issues, and news from the world of wood. Bajo produces toys directly at its headquarters, offering grandparents, parents, and especially children not only entertainment but also a new form of communication. According to Bajo, playing is not just fun, but also an art. With its products, it wants to provide children with education through play, but also to inspire them to prevent climate change. Wooden toys are a direct connection to nature and improve mental and physical well-being. These beautiful, timeless, and durable toys can be passed down from generation to generation. After the company was founded, the products were manufactured by retirees and people with disabilities, using local wood from old orchards. Everything was led by experienced founders who are professional designers and teach at the Technical University of Krakow. This is how Bajo began designing, manufacturing, and selling its own toys. Even today, they still employ people who are disadvantaged in the labor market. They now use renewable materials that can be easily recycled, such as sustainable wood from deciduous trees. They collect wood scraps from furniture and parquet manufacturers. They convert their own wood scraps from production into wood-based raw materials for further use. The company's educational expertise enables it to train young people from surrounding communities, vocational schools, and the Academy of Fine Arts. Bajo is also involved in local and European educational programs. They are partners with several therapy centers and children's homes. Bajo's goal is to produce high-quality toys that will last a long time. They use as many renewable energy sources as possible in their production and have solar panels on the roof of their factory. They pride themselves on coexisting with the surrounding nature, as evidenced by the birds' nests in their buildings and the deer families in the woods around the factory. They use almost no plastic in the packaging of their products. Wooden toys convey an ecological mindset to customers. According to Bajo, contact with wood, its friendly warmth, the possibility of building your own world from simple elements, and the message it conveys are essential steps in shaping awareness of ecology and the problems of today's world. It could be said that wooden toys perfectly express a love of nature. Bajo uses non-toxic, water-based paints that comply with European and American standards. The same standards apply to the toys themselves. The wood is protected with an oil coating. In production, they use high-quality materials from certified local suppliers – birch, plane tree, beech, oak, walnut, and others.
