The robust S499.02 locomotives were developed in the mid-1970s as a further development of the BR S499.0 series. Apart from the side walls, which had a wide ventilation strip for cooling the transformer instead of large windows, the locomotive body was identical to the E 469.3 DC locomotives. Between 1975 and 1981, a total of 86 units were put into service by ČSD, serving both freight and passenger trains. In the 1980s, some of them were fitted with modern single-arm pantographs and in 1988 they were renumbered to the 242 series. This detailed model of the locomotive is new for 2025.
