New for 2025: The Rh 242 "Plecháč" electric locomotive is a model of the well-known Czech Railways class 242 locomotive and belongs to era V. The main features of the model include digitally switchable cab lighting, engine room and chassis lighting, two metal single-arm current collectors on the roof, detailed cab and engine room interiors, and precisely fitted front windows that emphasize the authentic appearance of the real locomotive. This model in H0 scale (1:87) is supplied in a DC (direct current) version and has a NEM 658 / PluX22 interface, which allows for easy installation of a digital or sound decoder. The locomotive is factory-equipped with an integrated PIKO TrainSound® sound decoder, which allows it to emit authentic sounds of a real locomotive while running. The S499.02 series locomotives were developed in the mid-1970s as a further development of the S499.0 type. Compared to the previous series, the large windows on the sides were replaced by a wide fan belt, which significantly improved the cooling of the transformer, while the body itself remained very similar in design to the E 469.3 DC locomotives. Between 1975 and 1981, a total of 86 of these machines were put into service by ČSD, where they were used for both freight and passenger transport. During the 1980s, some locomotives underwent modernization and were fitted with single-arm pantographs. In 1988, the entire series was renumbered to the new 242 series.
